"Setsu-bun"



 

「鬼おにはそと、福ふくはうち」

「節分せつぶん」は、「季節きせつのわかれめ」という意味いみです。

 

だいたい2月3日頃がつ　にちごろで、旧暦きゅうれきでは春はるの始はじまりといわれています。

 

この日ひに、「鬼おにはそと、福ふくはうち」と言いいながら豆まめをまきます。

これを「豆まめまき」といいます。

「鬼おにはそと、福ふくはうち」は、「悪わるい鬼おにが家いえに入はいってこないように、福ふくが家いえに入はいってくるように」という意味いみです。

豆まめまきに使つかう豆まめは、大豆だいずを炒いった（ローストした）もので、「福豆ふくまめ」とも言いいます。

 

地方ちほうによっていろいろな習慣しゅうかんがあります。

魔除まよけのために「イワシ」を飾かざるところもあります。

 

 

子こどもにとっては「ゲーム」みたい？：「豆まめまき」

1月半がつなかばころから、お店みせでは節分用せつぶんようの豆まめを売うります。

鬼おにのお面めんがついているものもあります。

豆まめが直接地面ちょくせつじめんや床ゆかにつかないように、小ちいさな袋ふくろに入はいっているものもあります。

 

家いえでは親おやが鬼おにのお面めんをつけて鬼おにの役やくになり、子こどもが鬼おにに向むかって豆まめをまいたりします。

ゲームのようで、子こどもも楽たのしい行事ぎょうじです。

 

保育園ほいくえんや幼稚園ようちえんでも豆まめまきをすることがあります。

鬼おには「泣き虫鬼な　むしおに」「怖こわがり鬼おに」「いじわる鬼おに」など、退治たいじしたい感情かんじょうを鬼おにに表あらわして、

豆まめをまくこともあります。

 

豆まめまきが終おわったら、厄除やくよけのために自分じぶんの年齢ねんれいと同おなじ数かずの大豆だいずを食たべる習慣しゅうかんもあります。

喉のどにつまらないように、大豆だいずはきちんとかんで食たべるように、子こどもに伝つたえてください。

そして、食たべている時ときは大人おとながきちんと見みていてくださいね。

 


 

恵方巻えほうまき

節分せつぶんに「恵方巻えほうまき」を食たべる習慣しゅうかんもあります。

「恵方巻えほうまき」は大おおきなのり巻まきです。

その年としの「年神様としがみさま」（年としの神様かみさま）がいる方角ほうがく（ラッキーな方角ほうがく）をむいて、

大おおきいのり巻まき1本ぽんを食たべます。このとき、おしゃべりをしてはいけません。

2021年ねんは「南南東なんなんとう」です。

 

「恵方巻えほうまき」はもともと大阪おおさかで始はじまったようですが、今いまでは全国ぜんこくに広ひろまっている習慣しゅうかんです。

 

スーパーやコンビニでも「恵方巻えほうまき」をよく売うっています。

豆まめまきはあとで掃除そうじをしないといけないから面倒めんどうな人ひとや、小ちいさい子こどもが家いえにいないと豆まめまきは恥はずかしい、

という理由りゆうもあるようです。

"Setsu-bun"


 

What does "setsu-bun" stand for?

Setsu-bun stands for  “seasonal division” and  is celebrated on 2,3, or 4 February,

one day before the start of spring according to the Japanese lunar calendar.

 

Rituals have been performed to chase away evil spirits at the start of spring, and these days on Setsu-bun,

we throw roasted soy beans around the house saying “Oni wa soto, Fuku wa uchi” to keep the demons away

and bring good luck in. ("Oni" means a demon.)

 

It is celebrated differently in parts of Japan according to its regional cultures. 

 

You may see roasted soy beans sold with masks of red or blue Oni at shops from mid- January.

 

At many households a parent (perhaps many dads) wear masks and pretend to be the Oni and

kids throw the beans at the Oni - they love it!

 

The event is often celebrated at preschools as well, and sometimes the Oni is referred to as evil thoughts,

like the Oni of fear, Oni of tears, and unkind Oni.

 

After throwing of the beans, number of beans that corresponds to your age is eaten to ward off evil.
When you enjoy eating them with small ones, to avoid choking, make sure to tell them to bite them in pieces

before swallowing, and watch them do so.

"Eho-maki" - another custom on setsu-bun day

Another widespread custom is the eating of Eho-maki sushi rolls.

 

One is supposed to eat the roll without talking, while facing the lucky direction of the year.

2021 - it is SSE.

 

It appears to have been a culture in Osaka, but is now widespread across the country.
You may see them in many supermarkets and convenience stores.

This may be becaouse scattering the beans involves cleaning up afterwards, and is more for families with small children.
